The Story of MARCHXXVII: A Collaboration Destined for Greatness

Every great song has a story, and MARCHXXVII, my latest track with Toronto rap legend Choclair, is no exception. This record is more than just another release. It is a celebration of music, history, and the bond between two artists who share immense respect for the craft. The journey of how MARCHXXVII came to life is one for the books, and it has been amazing to see the love it has received from fans and new listeners alike.

Birthday Beats

The name MARCHXXVII holds more significance than most people realize. The track started with a beat titled after March 27, which is Choclair’s birthday. When producers CiCi and Gvine sent him the demo, he immediately called me because he felt I was the perfect artist to bring the song to its full potential. When I heard the beat, I instantly knew we had something special.

I approached the song the same way I do every track, with the goal of creating something timeless. I wanted MARCHXXVII to feel like it belonged in every playlist today and for decades to come. When we came together to perfect it, the result was undeniable. This track is more than a collaboration; it is an ageless rap anthem we are proud to share with the world.

Raptors Feature and a Proud Moment

This season, both Choclair and I were individually selected to be part of the Toronto Raptors’ music lineup. To have our first collaboration featured during the Raptors TV broadcast right before tip-off was a surreal experience.

Sports and music have a way of bringing people together, and knowing that MARCHXXVII set the tone for the game was an incredible moment. Moments like this remind me why I love what I do, and I am so grateful for the opportunity.

Cinematic Visuals for a Timeless Song

We knew MARCHXXVII needed a visual that matched its classic energy. Choclair had the idea to pay homage to Craig Mack’s iconic Flava in Ya Ear video. His vision included sleek black-and-white cinematography, minimal yet powerful performance shots, and a focus on pure artistry.

Director Lee Solo executed the idea flawlessly. The shoot came together quickly and smoothly without compromising creativity. The result is a striking video that complements the timeless feel of the song. Fans have been raving about the visuals, and it is clear the video has played a big role in helping the song blow up.

A Celebration of Legacy and Hustle

From Choclair:

“People say what they is, who they is, till their actions expose them / Big talk from a far part / This is big Chiz with a smooth walk.”

To my verses:

“I’ve been through hell, L after L / I was getting bread, then the bread got stale / Left me for dead, but I resurrected / Now I’m coming to you live from the Lazarus Pit.”

The song embodies a spirit of determination and survival. Whether it’s taking life’s hits or celebrating victories, MARCHXXVII is a soundtrack for those who refuse to settle.

Up Next: Parking Lot

The journey does not stop with MARCHXXVII. Next week, I am releasing the official music video for Parking Lot, another highlight from my Activated EP. This track brings a bold vibe, and the visuals are no exception.

The Parking Lot video was filmed at Canada’s Wonderland, featuring a Tesla Cybertruck, my closest friends, and an atmosphere full of energy and fun. This video truly captures the carefree spirit of the song while keeping it visually next level. If MARCHXXVII brought you hype, Parking Lot will take it even further.
