There are moments in your career that just feel right. That remind you why you started.
Working with Choclair on our song “March XXVII” was one of those moments.
This wasn’t just a feature. This was me standing shoulder to shoulder with a true legend — someone who helped build the foundation of Canadian hip hop. And to do it on a song that ended up getting picked up by the Toronto Raptors and Sportsnet?
That’s legacy meeting destiny.
Choclair: A Real One
First off — let’s talk about Choclair. Not just the artist, but the man. Working with him was effortless. Humble, wise and down-to-earth. He’s earned his place in the Hall of Fame of Canadian hip hop, and after locking in with him on this record, I can tell you: he deserves every bit of that legendary status. I grew up hearing his voice on tracks that defined an era, so to be on a record with him? That’s something younger me could’ve only dreamed of.
The Sound of “March XXVII”
This song is a celebration.Of hip hop. Of longevity. Of the city. Of momentum.
It’s got that gritty, classic boom-bap energy that pays homage to the roots, but we made sure it also had that modern, fresh bounce that hits today. No gimmicks. Just bars, vibe, and realness. It’s that type of track you play before you go get it.
Raptors x Sportsnet Energy
So when the Raptors and Sportsnet picked up “March XXVII” and used it in their tip-off highlight segment, man… that gave the song a whole new life. They didn’t just use the audio they incorporated clips from our official music video, weaving it into the Raptors game day energy. It felt like we were right there on the court, part of the game, part of the culture.
That kind of co-sign means something, not just for me and Chocs, but for the city.
Toronto, We Here
To see Toronto hip hop woven into the fabric of a Raptors game from “Let’s Ride” being the official anthem of the season to “March XXVII” echoing through the arena, it just shows how far we’ve come. We’re not in the shadows anymore. We are the moment. From Scarborough to Rexdale, Jane & Finch to Parkdale, the culture is alive and thriving and the Raptors are carrying that torch proudly.
